John Pleshette writes, "When I was thirteen I went to summer camp in Putney, Vermont. Everyone was telling jokes, mostly dirty jokes, and i heard a lot I liked. So, I kept a notebook and wrote down all the punch lines, since some of the jokes were pretty long and I figured if I knew the punch lines, I'd remember the joke. When I got home, the day before school started up, I opened my notebook and read: 'I'm not going through that 67 more times!' 'No, but you've got terrible gums' 'If she comes home, don't fuck her.' And so on. But I couldn't remember the set ups. Well, maybe a few. It drove me nuts. Finally, I brought the notebook to school and read off some of the punch lines to my friends. With the benefit of the adolescent collective memory, I was able to reconstruct most of the jokes."moreless
