Episode Summary

The third in my films from South Africa. Stylistically and content wise VERY different from the "Ponte Tower" film and the "Portrait of a projectionist" This is a simple little piece I did before my workshop in Durban about something I saw whilst on the beach that fascinated me. Shot on FS700 on a really CRAPPY day (and it hasn't stopped raining since!). No sun...just grey! Oh well! Indoor interview was in a tiny room and very dark...I left my litepanel chroma in Cape Town at my last hotel...doh! So this was a massive challenge. The interview lighting was not catchlight, but totally stuck in there. No natural light, just one light bulb high up. My usual get out of jail free card, my ipad was not with you are left with a it or don't do it...only one choice then! Wonderful finding Siphelele who was such a lovely guy and really made the piece. I will go back and tweak this grade a lot when I get time and maybe add a catchlight in after effects! For now, enjoy this fascinating little story :) Next up is a piece of epic natural beauty with I hope a great story in Kruger national park... I will cover this little one on my blog too as well as the next film mentioned above. Lenses: Mostly the 17-55 F2.8 EFS Canon. 100-400mm canon. 50mm F1.2. Rokinon 24mm T1.5. Tokina 11-16mm. Sound recorded in camera with a RODE NTG2 and Sanken COS 11moreless
