Record Club

Show Summary

Record Club is a music project created by the ever-evolving pop musician Beck. The idea being to get a bunch of musicians together and cover one of their favorites albums, start to finish, in one day. The songs are informal and improvisational, the sound of professional musicians having fun with music. Beck is the only member guaranteed to be at each recording session. Some of the artists who have participated are Wilco, St. Vincent, MGMT, Feist, Liars, and Devendra Banhart. They've covered the albums The Velvet Underground and Nico by The Velvet Underground, Songs of Leonard Cohen by Leonard Cohen, Oar by Skip Spence, and Kick by INXS. In order to attain that charming impulsive sound, none of the musicians rehearse anything before they all get together to record. Beck films the recording session for each song and posts them on-line in their entirety.
