Two decades after being awarded the Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought, Myanmar opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi was finally able to accept the prize at the European Parliament on Monday. Suu Kyi, who spent a total of 15 years under house arrest in Myanmar between 1989 and her release in late 2010, was awarded the Sakharov prize in 1990.
