Anti-government protesters in Turkish capital threw stones at buses and set fire to debris on streets in the city centre early on Sunday (June 2) as demonstrations continued. Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan has called for an end to the fiercest anti-government demonstrations in years as authorities arrested almost a thousand people in protests across the country. Riot police backed by armoured vehicles and helicopters fired tear gas and water cannon in Ankara for a second day.moreless
