Roeper got his start as a columnist for the Chicago Sun-Times in 1987, writing about everything from politics to media to entertainment. He has also written seven books, covering everything from urban legends to conspiracy theories and sports teams. He worked as a film critic for CBS in Chicago in the early 2000's, and when Gene Siskel of Siskel & Ebert passed away, Roeper joined Ebert as his co-host on the renamed Ebert & Roper at the Movies.
