Show Summary

From La Blogotheque and renowned French independent filmmaker Vincent Moon comes Take Away Shows. The sessions consist of an artist or band playing in the streets, in a bar, a park, or even in a flat or in an elevator every week. Of course, what makes the beauty of it is all the little incidents, hesitations, and crazy stuff happening unexpectedly. These live, unusually staged performances differ from the artifice of traditional music videos in favor of single-take, organic and primarily acoustic sessions, keeping the raw sound of the surroundings. The goal is to try and capture instants, film the music just like it happens, without preparation, without tricks. Spontaneity is the keyword.

  • These Shows Take Me Away!

I love everything about this show. Some of my favorite musicians have performed on here. The Spoon episode in particular was a thing of beauty. A really great idea to put musicians in these unique situations.
  • A Unique Take on Live Performances

This is one of the most fascinating music shows online. It takes each artist and strips them of the confines of a studio or concert venue and asks them to perform in parks, apartments, cabs, alleys, etc. There is a beauty in listening to their music completely raw and how it affects passerby's and spectators who happen to be in the right place at the right time.
  • perfect gimmick

i mean, the idea of setting a musical performance in a random place is a gimmick. its LITERALLY a gimmick. "theyre playing in an elevator." woah. BUT, Take Away Shows A. Invented it. B. Get's the best bands.

so yeah, mad props on the great gimmick idea (that everyone else and their brother copied. (i'm looking at you black cab sessions (http://www.tv.com/web/black-cab-sessions/)).

but yeah Battles, Spoon, Local Natives. thank you, yes, come again.

    Cool stuff for sure.moreless
