The Last Word

Show Summary

The Last Word from the New York Times is a collection of video obituaries that offer a unique glimpse into the lives, and deaths, of some of the world's most popular and influential people. With its long and storied tradition of interviewing these luminary figures, the New York Times is now giving anyone with access to the internet the opportunity to see what the world's larger-than-life think about their own deaths. These interviews, ranging from a 2 to 15 minutes, cover subject matter that can at times be funny and nostalgic, at times heartbreaking, and still at other times inspiring. Tune in to see the humorist Art Buchwald loudly exclaim "Hi! I'm Art Buchwald and I just died" or New York Times photography Dith Pran tell the hell-on-earth that was living underneath the shadow of the Khmer Rouge, and his life long struggle to make that story heard. The Last Word gives these figures a chance to tell their stories, one last time.
