The LXD

Show Summary

The LXD, short for the Legion of Extraordinary Dancers, is a web series from director John M. Chu about a group of dancers who also serve as a justice league of superheroes, even without traditional supernatural powers. Instead, they possess extraordinary powers of dance, and a mysterious outfit known as the LXD recruits them. There is also the hint of evil in the form of a shadow woven throughout the episodes, suggesting another entity that uses supernatural powers of dance in a bad way. As the story unfolds, it is told not just through dialogue but through extraordinary dance sequences that leave no question about why these dancer's abilities can turn them into superheroes. The actors on the show are relatively unknown except for their experience in the dance and choreography communities, with the notable exception of Harry Shum Jr., who stars as choir member Mike Chang on the hit Fox show Glee. The core group of the show's main characters has done performances opening for the Glee tour, on So You Think You Can Dance, and at The Oscars.

Very cool, well shot and highly stylized. It just draws you in.
  • So You Think You Can Dance Like a Superhero

Not just your ordinary dance-themed science fiction inspired narrative, The LXD has a lot of positives going for it. High production value, an experienced director (in the genre), and some serious pop and locking skills make for an enjoyable viewing experience. If you ever wondered what the contestants of So You Think You Can Dance would look like if they had super powers, look no further.
