Drummer Antonio Sanchez has been one of the most requested musicians on the jazz circles for well over a decade. The 38 year old has musical resume that's out of this world. Sanchez has back legends like guitarist Pat Metheny in his trio, The Pat Metheny Group, pianist Chick Corea, vibraphonist Gary Burton, and pianist Danilo Perez.The Mexico City, Mexico native began playing the drums when he was five years old. While growing up there, he studied extensively as a classical pianist at the local conservatory, but the drums were calling him. He left Mexico to study jazz at the famed Berklee School of Music in Boston. It was there where he became enthralled and became fascinated with music.Antonio's latest disc, "Live in New York: at The Jazz Standard," is a live double CD which features Scott Colley on Bass, Miguel Zenon on Alto Saxophone, and David Sanchez on Tenor Saxophone.
