The Writer's Room

Show Summary

The Writer's Room is a web comedy series revolving around the colorful and neurotic scribes responsible for a late night talk show hosted by comedian Kevin Pollack. The show deals with the petty (and sometimes not so petty) complaints of these writers as well as the behind-the-scenes clash of egos that go into producing late night comedy. The cast includes real life comedy writers like Bruce Kirschbaum, a writer from "Seinfeld" and "Everybody Loves Raymond", and Ed Crasnick whose credits include "Curb Your Enthusiasm" and "The Sopranos". Other members of the cast include Evan Mann, Jeff Kahn and Gareth Reynolds. Unlike HBO's "The Larry Sanders Show" or NBC's "30 Rock", The Writer's Room stays within the confines of it title setting and never presents the actual talk show itself. The episode "Let's Make a Development Deal" revolves around the stunned reaction in the room to news of a personal assistant inking a deal with director Martin Scorsese. "Mental Health Day" portrays the reactions when the writers learn that mental health will no longer be covered under their insurance plan. The Writer's Room is a backstage comedy gem.
