Show Summary

Truly CA: Shorts is a collection of web only documentaries created by independent filmmakers. Each documentary portrays a part of California history or culture, detailing the good and bad side of this Golden State. The films range from serious in content to that which is quite unusual but they are always true and informative. This collection of mini-documentaries are selected and distributed through KQEA and each film must thirty minutes or less. They have been releasing shows since 2006 at a rate of at least one every other month. Some of the documentaries are biographies detailing the fascinating life of famous or sometime not so famous Californians. Some of these documentaries are The Dessert Rose which tells the life story of dancer Dixie Evans and An Architect's Vision which tells the amazing life story of blind architect, Chris Downey. Other documentaries discuss the major issues that Californians face including Live from Tent City which talks about the homeless problem in the state and One Plastic Beach, where an artist showcases his work created from plastic debris he collects on the beaches of California.
