Filmed in Russia, the United States, Japan, China, Italy, France, Germany, The Netherlands, Great Britain and Sweden, Wings Over the World pulls together a series of mammoth proportions. Containing much previously unseen footage from around the world, each hour long documentary tells the story of 20th century flight as seen through the eyes of those who were boys at the time of the Wright brothers memorable first flight - boys who grew into the men who built world aviation. China was never regarded as a major contributor to world aviation until the present day. Even though the building blocks of aviation were laid in China with the invention of gunpowder, rockets and the properties of hot air lift, flight was not taken seriously at the end of the 19th century. But soon, this land protected by a 2,000-mile long wall realized that aircraft could very easily fly above their defenses. Recreating scenes from China's colorful past, High Above The Wall, tells the story of rapid aviation achievement in a country racked by revolution and change. Today, as the Pacific Rim countries enjoy an increasing share of world aviation marketplace, China stands as a leading contender with its own range of highly competitive civil and military aircraft as well as playing a major role in international cooperation.moreless
