Filmed in Russia, the United States, Japan, China, Italy, France, Germany, The Netherlands, Great Britain and Sweden, Wings Over the World pulls together a series of mammoth proportions. Containing much previously unseen footage from around the world, each hour long documentary tells the story of 20th century flight as seen through the eyes of those who were boys at the time of the Wright brothers memorable first flight - boys who grew into the men who built world aviation. The history of Italian aviation is told through the eyes of the Caproni family of aviators who helped establish many world records. The "Schneider Trophy" years, the war of Ethiopia and World War II spurred on development. In times of peace Italy's aviation companies also functioned as a mature partner in European aviation, contributing to the highly successful Airbus Industry concept. Into the 21st century Italy continues the work of the real father of world aviation, a countryman of centuries ago, Leonardo da Vinci.moreless
