Weeds returned to old form with a strong episode plotted with dark humor throughout. The usual comedic greatness from Andy and Doug did not disappoint as they attempted to further up on the idea of their coyote business. The uproarious Nancy also had some gems with her apparent lack of respect for the marijuana industry and the people she works with.
The show was not without its flaws though, which are always glaring and bringing the program down. Shane continues to be a really annoying person and you'd think for an untalented child actor who reads straight from the script the writers could actually pen a funny line for him. Celia's storyline is boring, as is her personality.
The current story arc with Nancy Botwin and the mayor is also ridiculous. The show claimed to be moving to a more dramatic direction, but it's almost like a burlesque, a parody of how a serious drama would unfold. This was a great episode by Season 4 standards, but the show just seems like a guy at a party being bawdy. You won't remember him the next day, but it was fun to watch. Although I don't think many people will forget the image of Mary Louise Parker getting spanked anytime soon.
This season gets more interesting as the episodes go on... hide show
This episode was very revealing for many of the characters.
*Spoilers Ahead*
Nancy goes behind Guillermo's back to start dealing to customers again, and while Esteban had a kinky spanking scene with Nancy, he eventually allows her to have the drugs. Love the odd relationship between her and Esteban for the moment. Shane & Isabelle find some steamy pictures of Nancy, and I was pretty shocked to see Shane doing some inappropriate things with those pictures at the end of the episode. What shocked me the most, though, was Roy Till and his partner at the end. I guess that has a double meaning now. Andy and Doug further their coyote business, and Silas hooks up with the MILF Lisa, and I wish they would have shown more than a few seconds of the scene...it was hot! So, all in all, revealing episode. Very interested to see what will happen next.
