Wilmer Valderrama to star in new Fox comedy pilot; Matthew Perry writing, acting in Showtime dark comedy.

When television viewers turn on their sets next year, they may see a few familiar faces that transport them all the way back to...2004!

Friends star Matthew Perry and That '70s Show's Wilmer Valderrama have both landed leading roles on a pair of recently announced pilots.

Perry, who played the neurotic Chandler Bing on the NBC megahit from 1994 to 2004, is pulling double duties as star and writer for Showtime with The End of Steve, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The cable channel has ordered a pilot episode of the dark comedy, which follows a foulmouthed, egomaniacal talk-show host (Perry). Writing and producing with Perry will be Peter Tolan, who previously wrote for Rescue Me and The Larry Sanders Show.

Like most Friends alums, Perry's post-Friends career has been largely disappointing. The actor last dabbled in television in the heavily hyped Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, which fizzled out after one season.

Valderrama, who has seemingly spent the last few years gallivanting around Hollywood as the scene's Lothario, is following his role as host of MTV's god-awful Yo Momma with a new pilot at Fox, as reported by Variety. The hour-long comedy The Emancipation of Ernesto centers on a man (Valderrama) who is on the search for his father in Los Angeles.

Before talking publicly about bedding Hollywood starlets and overseeing people talking about how corpulent each other's dear mums are, Valderrama was best known as the foreign-exchange student Fez on Fox's That '70s Show. He'll also be seen in next year's big-screen remake of CHiPs.

This is way too strong: "Like most Friends alums, Perry's post-Friends career has been largely disappointing" What would NOT make their career disappointing? And disappointed who? You? Or himself? Because not me, that's for sure.

Dude, not that I have much respect for Nicole Ritchie, but is it necessary for that caption in the photo? It's like I'm on TMZ or reading a blog all of a sudden. This site is supposedly one that reports news, can drop a smart-ass comment on occasion, but attempt to stay a slight bit unbiased.

Both actors are good but Perry has always seemed more of a well rounded actor to me.. I liked Friends, loves Studio, and look forward to any show by the guy from Rescue Me.

I was never a huge Matthew Perry fan, but I'm glad to see Vilmer getting another chance too. Good luck.

Both Matthew Perry and Valderrama had excellent part in their respective shows, so you could have placed a martian in those roles and they would have performed just as well. I think both would work just as well in a fast food outlet somewhere, loading happy meals or counting fries.

I look forward to seeing Matthew on TV again. I love him :D I really don't think Willmer will be that great as anything other than Fez, though. I could be wrong, hey.

Matthew Perry is AWESOME! Valderrama however... he was good in 70's. But after his MTV era, I kinda lost a fair bit of respect for him.

Where did it say Bang? My daughter and I just re-watched Studio 60... having watched it the first time when it was on but re-watched the DVD's over the last couple of weeks. It was even better than I rememebered and really stupid of NBC to cancel it.

I love the caption under Wilmer's picture; "Celebrities, they're just like us! Wilmer taking out the trash." Hilarious!

It's great to hear that Matthew Perry is still acting in tv, I think it's his niche and he's just got to find that one role. I do think something a little less comedy oriented could be just the ticket, don't get me wrong he's outstandingly hilarious but we know that side of him all to well. It'll be nice to see something more.

Studio 60 was a great show, too bad it fizzled. Showtime has some kick-ass shows, so let's hope this is another one...
