Three men named Watts, Vulcan, and Migel ask a zoid expert, Dr. Piers, about fuzors composed of more than two zoids. He declares it theoretically possible.
Meanwhile, RD has just beaten Matt in a practice match. Matt is disappointed, but RD cheers him up by saying that he's almost ready to get his Zi-fighter's license. He is not prepared for how enthusiastic Matt is about this.
The other members of Mach Storm find out about the situation about town and confront RD, insisting that he tell Matt that he can't take the test as it is too dangerous. RD avoids disappointing Matt by saying that he can take the test, but only after he beats him in a zoid battle.
Watts promises Ms. Sandra that he can deliver Liger Zero Phoenix to her in one week's time with the aid of his new zoid, which he claims is extraordinarily powerful. Migel finds someone on his computer that might be able to help their plan along; Matt!
Matt is worried that it will be too long before he can beat RD and take his test, so he goes to a Zi-fighter's bar and asks pilots to teach him to be a better fighter. He gets poor reactions until Vulcan spots him and takes him to a wherehouse where he, Watts, and Migel have a zoid simulator. Watts says that he can use it, but that they'll need the schematics of his zoid to set it up properly. Matt eagerly obliges, and later Migel discovers from the data that the Leo Blaze Matt has been using is indeed exactly what they need.
As Ms. Sandra and Blake watch via video, Matt and RD are ready to begin another sparring match, but Watts, Vulcan, and Migel barge in with zoids and using the data Matt provided, fuse the four zoids together to create a monstrous new zoid; the Matrix Dragon, which Watts proclaims as the most powerful zoid in history. Matt manages to eject to safety before they attack RD, but even after Liger Zero combines with Fire Phoenix, RD is quickly beaten and the Liger sustains heavy damage. As Matt and Mach Storm watch in shock, the Matrix Dragon flies off in triumph as RD vows to make them pay for defeating him.
